hi i'm Akshay :)

I'm an EECS student at UC Berkeley, driven by an insatiable curiosity to understand how things work – and an even stronger urge to build them myself.

Growing up, I couldn't resist grabbing a screwdriver and taking apart whatever electronics I could find: old floppy disks, broken laptops, gadgets gathering dust. I would pry open the cases and study the circuits inside, mesmerized by components I didn't yet understand. That early fascination with demystifying the black box grew into a drive to build things myself.

My work spans the full spectrum: from custom PCB design and analog signal processing to software systems and machine learning.

I approach engineering as a form of creative expression. Working on projects allows me to learn something new, push my limits, and hopefully create something that makes someone's life a little better – or at least more interesting.

Outside of work...

  • Playing guitar is my favorite way to relieve stress. You'll often find me jamming out to Coldplay, blissfully fingerpicking classical fingerstyle, or challenging myself with some (near-impossible) John Mayer riffs. I'm currently designing a custom guitar pedal and amp that I'll be building soon!
  • I've been playing tennis since 7th grade, and it remains my favorite sport. It has taught me discipline, focus, and the importance of continuous practice. Plus, my first exposure to hardware problem-solving was building a system to detect tennis court occupancy using computer vision and a Raspberry Pi.
  • Web development is my creative outlet where I'm able to combine my love for art/design with problem solving. It's pretty straightforward and relaxing - there's nothing better than going to a coffee shop and working on an app for hours. I'm currently working on a top-secret app that will benefit Berkeley students!
